Eva Olga Savol

Age 80, died peacefully at Consulate Health Center, Cheswick PA on August 28, 2014.

Daughter of Olga Savol and Jaroslav Julius Savol, survived by her brother Andrej Martin Savol of Washington state. Born in Dolna Stubna, Slovakia, where the Savol family had lived until they were forced to flee during WWII because the Father was

determined that his family would never live under Communism. The family immigrated to Penn Hills under the sponsorship of Turners Dairy. Eva graduated from Penn Hills High School, attended Point Park College, graduated from the University of Pittsburgh becoming a high school German language teacher. She had been a longtime smoker eventually leading to lung cancer. Miraculously, UPMC's chemotherapy eliminated the tumor and she lived cancer free for her last 12 years, having finally stopped smoking.

Her immune system's reaction to the cancer produced severe peripheral neuropathy causing her to be severely disabled for life.  Service was held at Zion Lutheran Church, Penn Hills.
