Michele M. Abijanac

At age 79, Michele left this world too early on Friday, June 24, 2022. While devoting time as the successful owner of the salon, Hairdresser II in Shadyside, she also enjoyed many years of extensive traveling, walking at North Park and spending time with family and friends. Daughter of the late Michael and Dorothy Abijanac; survived by brothers Michael (Martine) and David (Marlene Haley); and sister of deceased sisters Carol (late Joseph) Zugec and Jackie (Robert) Cernick and deceased nephew. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, a great-niece and great-nephews, and a great-great niece. Family and friends will be received for a Blessing Service held on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Our Redeemer Catholic Cemetery, 204 Cemetery Ln., Pittsburgh, PA. 15237, in the Mausoleum Chapel, upper level. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association local chapter or to your preferred charity.

 

 

Mary Ann (Amato) Cohn

Passed away surrounded by her loved ones. Mary Ann was the wife of Matthew whom she was married to for 43 years, their love was unconditional, deep, and true. Daughter of the late Domenic and Mary Amato, who she loved deeply. Mary Ann worked at Sears for 38 years where she was dedicated and proud. Mary Ann is survived by her beloved family who will miss her beyond imagination. “We love you as big as the sky.”

Linda R. Eaton

Age 77, of Penn Hills, Passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2022. Daughter of the late John and Nelda Eaton; sister of Margie Eaton. After retiring from the state, she was a volunteer for the Penn Hills Senior Center planning the over 90 party and served on the advisory board. Thomas J. Donohue

After a several year battle with Parkinson’s Disease, Tom peacefully passed away Monday, August 1, 2022 at the age of 85, at Hanna HealthCare Center, Longwood at Oakmont where he was a patient since February. Raised in Shadyside, he was the oldest child of the late Tom and Elizabeth Donohue followed by Kevin Daniel (Patricia) of North Hills and the late Mary Ann Stegman (Edward), Robert and John Donohue. After graduating from Central Catholic High School, he joined the US Coast Guard Reserves and then went to night school at Carnegie Tech to study engineering.  During this period, he met and married Judy Yocca 62 years ago on August 29 and fathered 4 beloved children—Michael (Colleen), Stephen (Catherine), Paul and John. He also cherished his 6 grandchildren Timothy (Kathryn), Kristen (Matthew), Luke (Jess), Patrick (Paige), Marielle (James) and Eliza and was looking forward to getting to know his 5 great grandchildren.  After Carnegie Tech, he was recruited to be a State Farm Insurance agent where he built a thriving business and worked for 52 years. Over the years he loved traveling, collecting stamps, hunting in the fall with friends and family, joining many events Irish, and most of all, being with family. He also never missed a note when it came to belting out his favorite Irish songs.  In 65 years, he probably never missed going to or marching with the AOH, Division 23 in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade.  After moving to a house in Penn Hills that is surrounded by trees, he loved the visits of deer and turkeys that would “visit”.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to the Parkinson’s Foundation of Western Pennsylvania, 575 Lincoln Ave. #101, Bellevue, PA 15202.

Pauline R. Scamardi

Age 83, of Penn Hills, born in VillaRosa, Italy, passed away Monday, July 25, 2022. Beloved wife of 62 years of Luigi Scamardi; mother of Grace Scamardi, Jennie (the late Rey) Carrillo, Paul (Lisa) Scamardi, and Gino (Tracey) Scamardi; grandmother of Rachel, Rochelle, Julia, Jensen, Gia, and the late Robert; great-grandmother of three. She was a vocalist at St. Bartholomew Church and performed with the I Campagnoli Italian Folk Group. She loved to cook and bake, trying new recipes and even some she made up. Pauline was an avid sports fan by supporting her children and grandchildren. She also loved watching the NCAA Basketball Tournament.
